Our shadow studies are completed with reference to BRE 209, ‘Site Layout Planning for Daylight and Sunlight: A Guide to Good Practice’, Second Edition 2011, by P.J. Littlefair. This is a non-statutory guide referred to in local authorities’ requests for information,
and sets out guidelines that are most commonly used in Ireland and the UK to assess the impacts of
development on daylight and sunlight.

Architectural Shadow Diagrams can be helpful in Planning submissions to mitigate against further information requests.

Provides easy to read accurate analysis of solar / overshadowing issues such as to ensure design meets requirements for solar access to living rooms, private open spaces etc.
